China Attestation, Apostille & Visa Services in Chennai

Chinese Certificate Attestation

Applicants seeking China attestation and visa services should note that the Hague Apostille Convention currently does not apply between India and China. Although China acceded to the Convention on 8 March 2023 and it entered into force on 7 November 2023, India formally objected to China’s accession. As a result, the Apostille system is not applicable between the two countries, and an MEA Apostille alone is generally not accepted for Indian documents used in Mainland China. Indian documents must therefore follow the traditional consular legalization process: Notary → State Authentication (HRD/Home Department) → MEA Attestation → Chinese Embassy or Consulate legalization. GloboPrime India provides China attestation services for educational, personal, and commercial documents required for use in China. This page also explains the process for applying for China visas such as L (Tourist), M (Business), Z (Work), and X (Student) through the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) in Chennai, Egmore.

What Is China Embassy Attestation?

China Embassy Attestation is the formal process of legalizing your Indian-issued documents through a chain of official verifications, ending with the stamp and signature of the Embassy or Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in India. This stamp confirms to Chinese government authorities, employers, universities, and courts that your documents are genuine, legally issued, and valid for use within China.

Unlike countries that have joined the Hague Apostille Convention (where a single MEA Apostille stamp suffices), China requires the full multi-level attestation chain because it is not part of the Apostille system. This means every document for China must be separately attested at three levels: State level → MEA level → Chinese Embassy/Consulate level.

Indian applicants planning to use documents in China should understand that the MEA Apostille process does not apply to China. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Apostille is a simplified authentication method available only for countries that mutually recognize the Hague Apostille Convention, such as the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, and France.

Important 2026 Update What China Visa Applicants Must Prepare

The Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in New Delhi issued an important notice on 16 January 2026 with stricter document expectations for certain categories. These points are especially important for business visa and tourist visa applicants.

1 Application Forms Must Be Complete and Accurate

Every field in the online application must be completed truthfully and in full. Incomplete information, concealment, or inaccurate details may result in refusal or additional scrutiny. Once the online application is submitted, errors usually require a fresh application.

2 M Visa Business Applications Need Stricter Invitation Documents

    • Chinese company business licence: must include the business scope. If the scope is not visible, it should be added from the company or a verified source. The copy must carry a handwritten Chinese signature from the responsible person, plus date and a note stating the document is strictly for the named applicant’s visa application.
    • Inviter ID: the inviter’s identification image must be valid and clear, and must also carry a handwritten Chinese watermark or note for the named applicant, with signature and date.
    • Invitation letter: must carry a handwritten Chinese signature and the company’s official seal. Contract seals or personnel seals are not accepted in place of the official corporate seal.

3 L Visa Tourist Applications Need Six Months of Bank Statements

Tourist visa applicants must provide personal bank statements covering the most recent six months. If a minor uses a parent’s or another person’s account, a signed authorisation letter from the account holder must be submitted with the bank documents. GloboPrime guidance: Our Chennai team reviews invitation letters, business licences, bank statements, attestation records, and visa forms before submission support is arranged. This helps reduce avoidable rejection caused by incomplete or non-compliant supporting documents.
