Need UAE MOFA attestation for your certificate? MOFA attestation is no longer done in the UAE. The UAE Embassy in India now completes embassy attestation and MOFA digital attestation together, and issues one digitally signed certificate with a QR code. GloboPrime provide reliable Mofa attestation services for applicants in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and across India complete UAE document attestation, including the required MEA, UAE Embassy and digital MOFA attestation stage, based on your document type and destination requirements.
MOFA is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the UAE the full name is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, MOFAIC for short. MOFA attestation is their confirmation that the seals and signatures on your document are real. Once it is done, the document is valid in all seven Emirates and gets accepted by MOHRE, immigration, the Ministry of Education, courts, and banks.
One point applicants often misunderstand is that MOFA does not recheck the academic, personal, or commercial information written inside the certificate. It verifies the government attestations completed before it, including the state authentication, Indian MEA attestation, and UAE Embassy certification where required. If any stage is missing or incorrect, the application may be rejected. This is one of the main reasons documents get delayed, which is why we check every certificate and its previous attestations before submission.
MOFA attestation is required when an Indian educational certificate, marriage certificate, birth certificate, police clearance certificate, or other personal or commercial document must be accepted for official use in the UAE. It confirms the official signatures and seals after the required India-side authentication, MEA attestation and UAE Embassy attestation.
Educational documents from Gujarat universities (Gujarat University, Gujarat Technological University, MS University of Baroda, Saurashtra University, VNSGU Surat, etc.) and boards (GSEB) must be authenticated by the Gujarat GAD before MEA processing. The Gujarat GAD attestation typically costs ₹6,500–8,500 per document and takes approximately 15–20 working days through regular channels. Our experience with Gujarat authentication workflows helps ensure smoother coordination and faster turnaround compared to DIY submissions.
Under the earlier process, an Indian document first received UAE Embassy attestation in India and was then sent to the UAE for separate MOFA attestation. This meant two applications, separate processing stages and, in many cases, international courier handling before the completed original was returned.
Under the current digital attestation process, one application through the UAE MOFA platform covers certification by both the UAE Embassy in New Delhi and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After the required India-side authentication and MEA attestation are complete, a MOFA-approved service provider collects the original document. The digitally attested document is sent by email, while the original is returned by courier.
| Earlier Process | Current Digital Process | |
|---|---|---|
| Embassy and MOFA stages | Completed through separate applications | Covered through one UAE MOFA application |
| What you receive | Separate embassy and UAE MOFA attestations | A digitally attested document certified by both authorities |
| Do documents leave India? | The original was commonly sent to the UAE for final MOFA attestation | No international courier to the UAE is normally required |
| Official processing estimate | Varied according to each stage and courier movement | Most compliant requests are processed within 2 to 3 business days |
| Verification | Physical stamps and stickers were checked | Verified online using the attestation reference number and issued date |
The application is completed online, but the original physical document is still required. After payment, a MOFA-approved service provider normally contacts the applicant within 24 hours to arrange collection. The original is returned by courier after processing. Documents already carrying an older UAE Embassy attestation should be checked individually before submission because the correct route depends on the existing stamps and the current MOFA requirements.
The appearance of UAE MOFA attestation depends on when and where the document was processed. Older documents may carry a physical MOFA attestation stamp or coloured label. Eligible Indian documents processed through the current digital route receive a UAE MOFA digital attestation certificate by email, certified by both the UAE Embassy in New Delhi and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A document carrying an older physical MOFA stamp does not automatically become invalid because a newer digital format is now available. However, the document type, issue date and requirements of the UAE authority receiving it should still be checked before submission.
The digitally attested document normally displays the information needed to identify and verify the MOFA-attested certificate, including:
To verify MOFA attestation online or check whether the digital attestation is original, enter the Attestation Reference Number and Issued Date shown on the certificate through the official UAE MOFA verification platform. Keep the digital document and reference number safely, as an employer or UAE authority may use them to confirm the document’s authenticity.
The original goes to a public notary first. If your certificate is laminated, the lamination has to come off before anything else. We do this in-house, carefully, because a damaged certificate gets rejected further up the chain.
This depends on the document. Degrees and diplomas go for HRD attestation in the state where the university sits, and some states insist on university verification first. Birth, marriage, divorce, and PCC go to the State Home Department or the SDM in Delhi. Company papers go to the Chamber of Commerce.
The Ministry of External Affairs applies its stamp. The UAE is not part of the Hague Convention, so this is a normal attestation, not an apostille. The UAE MOFA portal will not accept your application without the MEA stamp already on the document, so this step cannot be skipped or done out of order. More on our MEA attestation page.
We submit the request on the portal with clear scans showing the MEA stamp, select the document category, and pay once for the embassy legalisation and MOFA attestation together. The portal issues a reference number, which is what you will use later to track and verify.
Our team submits the originals at the UAE Embassy in New Delhi, or at the consulate in Mumbai, Hyderabad, or Trivandrum, whichever applies. The embassy verifies the MEA seal and processes both attestations. You never have to stand at the counter yourself.
The digitally signed certificate is issued and can be downloaded from the UAE MOFA website. We verify it on verify.mofa.gov.ae before anything leaves our hands, then courier your originals and the certificate back to you with the reference number on WhatsApp.

Additional charges may apply for university verification, HRD or State Home Department authentication, MEA processing, legal translation, bank payments and courier delivery.
Most compliant Indian documents complete the UAE Embassy and digital MOFA attestation stage within two to three business days. The full processing time also includes India-side verification, MEA attestation, pickup and return delivery. Missing seals, laminated certificates, public holidays or delays from the issuing authority can extend the completion date.
Send a clear photo of your document to GloboPrime for the correct UAE attestation procedure, total fee and expected completion date. Pickup and delivery are available in Chennai, across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, and throughout India.
Open verify.mofa.gov.ae and enter the reference number from the certificate, or just scan the QR code. The record shows the document type, the date, and whether the attestation is valid. Employers and PRO offices in the UAE run this exact check before accepting anything, so run it yourself the day your documents come back. If nothing shows up on the portal, stop and get the attestation looked at before you rely on that document for a visa or a job.
We verify every attestation before handover and send you the result along with the reference number. You can also follow each stage on our attestation tracker, and for the online route specifically.

These answers apply to India-issued documents, including applications from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and elsewhere in India.
Yes. For eligible India-issued documents, UAE Embassy attestation and UAE MoFA attestation are completed through one UAE MoFA Digital Attestation application. After the required Indian authentication and MEA attestation, an approved provider collects the original document in India. You receive a digitally attested document by email, certified by both the UAE Embassy in New Delhi and UAE MoFA, while the original is returned by courier.
The UAE MoFA attestation fee is AED 150 per individual-affairs document, including personal and educational certificates, and AED 2,000 per commercial document. Commercial invoices and Certificates of Origin are submitted through eDAS 2.0 at AED 150 per invoice or COO. These are UAE government fees and do not include Indian authentication, MEA, courier, translation or service charges.
First, complete the applicable Indian authentication and MEA attestation. Next, log in to the UAE MoFA Attestation Service using UAE Pass, select the Republic of India as the country of issue, complete the application and pay online. A MoFA-approved provider collects the original document, and the digitally attested result is emailed after completion.
Yes, the application, payment and completed digital attestation are online. However, India-issued documents are not fully paperless. The UAE Embassy in New Delhi requires the original physical document, which is collected by an approved courier and returned after the digital attestation is completed.
For India-issued documents, you do not need to travel to a UAE MoFA office for the current digital-attestation route. Apply through the UAE MoFA platform, and the MoFA-approved provider will arrange original-document collection by courier.
There is no single total cost for UAE attestation in India. It depends on the document type, state or university authentication, MEA attestation, UAE government fee, courier requirement, translation and whether the document is personal or commercial. Check the original document before relying on a final quote.
Pay the UAE MoFA attestation fee online during the application. After entering the correct document and country-of-issue details, the UAE MoFA platform displays the applicable amount before payment is completed.
UAE MoFA does not publish one universal expiry period for every completed attestation. The digital attestation can be verified using its reference number and issue date, but the receiving UAE employer, visa authority, university or licensing body may set its own recency requirement. Some source documents, such as police clearance certificates, can also have separate validity requirements.
Common documents include degree certificates, diplomas, transcripts, birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce certificates, police clearance certificates, powers of attorney, company documents and commercial agreements. Commercial invoices and Certificates of Origin are exceptions and must use the UAE MoFA eDAS 2.0 system.
MoFA approval usually means completed document attestation by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It confirms the authenticity of the relevant signatures and seals in the legalisation chain. It is not an approval of a UAE visa, employment offer, university admission or professional licence.
Start with the issuing authority and the correct India-side authentication route. Educational, personal and commercial documents can require different pre-attestation authorities. After MEA attestation, submit the UAE MoFA Digital Attestation application for India, complete payment and arrange courier collection of the original document.
UAE MoFA does not publish a closed list of accepted degrees. Educational certificates and academic documents can be submitted, including bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, PhDs, diplomas and transcripts, subject to the required Indian authentication and MEA attestation. The receiving UAE employer, licensing authority or university decides which qualification documents it requires.
The UAE Embassy in New Delhi is at 12, Chandragupta Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi – 110021. For the current India digital-attestation route, do not visit the Embassy before following the UAE MoFA online application and courier instructions.
