UAE Embassy Attestation Process in Chennai (All Document Types)

Attestation is a mandatory legalization process to validate Indian-issued documents for official use in the United Arab Emirates. The process varies slightly depending on the type of document Educational, Non-Educational (Personal), or Commercial but always involves authentication by recognized Indian authorities, followed by final attestation by the UAE Embassy in India.

Educational Document Attestation Process (Degrees, Diplomas, etc.)

Process 1: HRD-Based Attestation (Mandatory for Government & Academic Institutions)

• University Verification – Certificate is verified by the issuing university or educational institution.
• HRD Attestation – Human Resource Department (HRD) of the state (e.g., Tamil Nadu) authenticates the certificate.
• Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Attestation – Document is legalized by the MEA, Government of India, in New Delhi.
• UAE Embassy Attestation – Final attestation by the UAE Embassy in India.
• MOFA Attestation (UAE) – Final pink MOFA stamp legalization by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE.

Note: HRD route is mandatory for higher studies and government employment in the UAE.

Process 2: SDM-Based Attestation (Accepted for Private & Distance Education Certificates)

• Notary Attestation – Document is notarized by a recognized legal officer.
• SDM Attestation – Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Delhi) legalizes the document.
• MEA Attestation – Certification by Ministry of External Affairs.
• UAE Embassy Attestation – Final endorsement by UAE Embassy in India.

 Note: SDM route is not accepted for certain professional degrees like MBBS, Engineering, etc., where HRD is mandatory.

Non-Educational (Personal) Document Attestation Process

Examples: Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Affidavit, PCC, Medical, Divorce, Experience Certificate

Option 1: Home Department Attestation Route

• Notary Attestation
• Home Department Attestation – Done by the respective state’s Home Ministry or GAD/RAC.
• MEA Attestation
• UAE Embassy Attestation
• MOFA Attestation (UAE) – Final attestation by UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Option 2: SDM Route (Faster & Commonly Accepted)

• Notary Attestation
• SDM Attestation (Delhi)
• MEA Attestation
• UAE Embassy Attestation
• MOFA Attestation (UAE) – Final legalization by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE.

Note: SDM attestation is commonly accepted for most non-educational documents but not suitable for degrees or diplomas.

Commercial Document Attestation Process

Examples: Invoices, Certificate of Origin, Export Docs, MOA, AOA, Incorporation, Board Resolutions

• Chamber of Commerce Attestation – Initial validation by a registered Chamber of Commerce in India.
• MEA Attestation – Legalization by the Ministry of External Affairs.
• UAE MOFA Attestation – Final stamp of legalization by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE.

Note: Commercial documents are used for company formation, trade agreements, or licensing within the UAE.
